Nice textures and tonal range here.

I like the composition and love the dark background, but the color on the wings looks overprocessed. I'm still scoring it well.

Good close up -- the lighting in spots is a bit harsh and it hides some details.

Nice light on the butterfly, good detail.

very interesting, great lines and detail, works well against the black background

interesting pic, it looks to me almost as if it was 'abstract' macro...

Interesting butterfly. Strange colors, but there's a lack of detail from too much contrast.

Good details on the butterfly.

Seems to be lacking detail IMO

Interesting texture, almost foil-like.

I take it this is a moth and not a butterfly...not sure what the differences are..but interesting colors

Fascinating little guy! Excellent detail to show him off.

Nice composition and capture of an interesting creature.

This really emphasises how fragile the wings are and how pretty. Nice work.

Image feels a tad over sharpened, which detracts from this for me. The composition is rather standard. Nothing too interesting minus the subject itself.

Is that it's true colors?
Post actions
This is a well done photo of an interesting subject. Unfortunately, this just isn't a very attractive looking butterfly, nor are the colours particularly striking overall. The technicals are very good though.

Wow! What a butterfly. Never seen such a riot of colors, textures, and shapes. The yellow gold sections resemble cured tobacco. Great macro.

The light does wonders for this one!

I would have cloned out that little green to the left in the black area but a very nice unusual butterfly.
