OK. Loses some in the shadows.

I... er... don't see the lighthouse, your title confuses me...

I don't really see a lighthouse here, nor do I get the sense of being in beautiful Hawai'i, this is too dark for my tastes and doesn't have enough substance or color.

It's a bit dull, largely underexosed, and lacks a clear subject. Sorry.

I like the backlight shot.

Silhouette is nice, but without the title I'd have a hard time figuring out what this is.

It may be my monitor, but I can't find the lighthouse...

focus, exposure issues imo

There may be some extra JPEG compression taking away some detail. I see some artifacts right around the high contrast edges of the outcropping. Your file size is only 49k and you could have used up to 200k for this challenge. Compression kills detail. When you save your file, always use the least compression you can get away with and still come in under challenge limits.

Interesting shot. I like the soft feel to everything in this image.

Focus could have been sharper and I don't care for the lighting.

Bit dull, dark and uninspiring. I don't really understand how this can be your best photo ever taken and hidden gem.
03/15/2009 06:29:26 AMPost actions
looks too much like a snap shot, needs more interesting features

This lacks a key, meaningful focal point and the 50:50 split of composition doesn't help anyway. If this indeed an ancient ruin of a lighthouse then it's important to see some of its manufacture technique and textures, etc. SOme of that sunset glow could have been used to good effect and show us more of it, simply by moving around the subject.

I don't really see a lighthouse, just a pile of rocks on a hill. Photo is a bit dark for me.
03/14/2009 09:17:36 PMPost actions
Um. Probably does not use a Fresnel lens. Bit dark on the foreground.

Your title interests me, and I look forward to reading any photographer notes you leave, but as a photograph in it's own right, there is nothing to keep my interest.

Nice tones in the sky. I would like to see some more detail on the forground.

I think that lowering the horizon to the lower third of the frame would be better for this shot.

to dark...not enough detail...can't even tell there is a lighthouse foundation here

Grass is very dark on my monitor and sky is kind of washed out. I think it would have more impact for me if I could see more detail in the foreground and more contrast in the sky.

not a lot to interest me sorry

It's an interesting silhouette but on my calibrated moniter it's hard to tell if there's more to this.

I never knew that the polynesians used lighthouses. Cool silouette!

mmm.... just not enough here to judge it in this challenge, and your score will probably tank. As a series, or in a minimalism challenge, I think I'd like it though.

not the most impressing lighthouse I've seen :)
overall too dark, the dull sky doesn't help the image, too
03/11/2009 09:09:05 AMPost actions
This photograph could benefit from a stronger focal point.
03/11/2009 08:13:49 AMPost actions
I have a problem with this because the colors are drab and there is really no interesting subject.
03/11/2009 03:02:37 AMPost actions
Not sure what you're wanting to present, but the underexposure is a real issue in this image.
