Good pic and idea. Only one missing detail, owl's shadow.

Congrats on your top 50 placing.

Lovely catch! Not your typical owl shot for sure - very memorable.

I thought this one was great. Keep coming back to it. Gave it a 10. Thought it might have ribboned too. I can see why it's a personal fav. I'd be very proud of it.

Equally improbable and appealing - keeps one looking for quite a time.

ha! what a cute little owl! great dof, its perfect!!
Post actions
Great capture, some times it's just about being there when they do things like this.
Post actions
this is a very interesting picture. I like the leading line. I wish that the owl was little further inside, leaving some more room in the front.
Post actions
simply remarkable. if, though, this is a set up shot, i hope you drop your camera in a pond ;-)
Post actions
now there is something you don't see every day

I really love this. What a cool moment this must have been to witness! The only thing is I wish it was 720 px. 7 for now.
Post actions
Great title, and the focus makes this bird jump out from my screen.
Post actions
Hahaha, I love this! Great DOF, I love the distorted reflection and the composition.
Post actions
Love the way the owl is "floating" there, and of course am just utterly bemused by the incongruity of an owl on a railroad track :-) Almost wish you'd titled it "My Trained Owl" :-) 7 from me.
Post actions
Hahah...he looks funny just standing there. I hope he doesnt wait too long though, the train might come :)
Post actions
Made me laugh out loud... Thanks.
Post actions
Nice shot. Hope he flies away before the train comes.
Post actions
Funny and confrontational! What's not to love about that? I find myself wondering what in the world is going through the birds mind, a very enjoyable photograph.
Post actions
Interesting reflection in the rail; nice use of DOF.

even a reflection...beautiful work!

What a cool photo! Great focus/DOF - and the composition is perfect. Can't believe you can even see the reflection in the train rail! Is this a pet? Terrific work!

Nice find, like the lines of the track & the sleepers & the piercing stare of the bird

This is just too cool. I remember seeing this in your portfolio (although I can't remember who you are). I liked it then and I like it now.

Great capture, the DOF is perfect for this image - I love the reflection too.
Post actions
That is the funniest bird I have ever seen!! I don't know birds could make expressions, it looks like a lost puppy dog :)
Post actions
Nice photo. I really like the reflection.
Post actions
Cool shot, I would love to know how you did this, it looks like you placed him there. Nice job!

What a sensational capture. The content is just so great - the expression on this guy's face, his reflection on the rail, the rail that disappears beyond him, the dof. The color depth is not as strong as it could be but it's a fave anyway.

Burrowing Owl!

LOL. Excellent... love the warped reflection...
Post actions
Like nothing I've ever seen before.
Post actions
This is adorable! Is he real? Wait.. doesn't matter... it's so cool either way. The extra little somthing for me is the way the track bens slightly to the right behind the owl.
Post actions
That is truly one remarkable capture. I would hazard a guess that this is a burrowing owl. Wonderful depth of field and a great reflection from the track. Very nicely done... good luck to you.

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments now. This wouldn't happen to be anywhere near platform 9 3/4 would it?:-) I instantly thought Harry Potter and the Owl Delivery system; but really this little feathered friend does not want to be waiting on the tracks when Hogwarts Express comes roaring by:-) This little critter is so cute! I can't help but see that he would just *sit* there and hoot at the train as it toots it horn back to warn him of the danger of being on the tracks. I read his expression and stance is such that he is very persistent about catching his train - only someone flapping there arms and running toward him would possibly convince him to move. The focus and details on the owl are wonderful. There are of course some technicals such as deep shadows and DOF that I guess could be improved but I don't see how considering that sometimes you just have seconds to make the capture or lose it forever. Regardless of the technical details, this capture sure told me a story and gave me a smile which is a big plus if you can connect like that with your audience.

LOL! Great capture I like the expression and reflection. Great DOF.

I'm voting this as if it's real (I assume it is), but the bird seems a little too processed, which makes him look like he isn't really part of the scene.

Love the bird's reflection in the rail! Great capture!
Post actions
Surprised to see him stay there long enough for you to shoot him. Great perspective. Looks like a very long lens too.
Post actions
This is just about as cute, funky and odd as you can get. First off - this shot is like one in a million. Never seen a better photo showing the contrast between man and nature. The Owl just looks so out of place, on a railroad track of all places. =) On the photo itself, spot on. DOF is perfect and love how everything around him is oof but it still draws the line of the track out of the picture. The Owl is in good focus and has good color - plus he/she is cute. Great photo and I truly think it's a gem. 9
Post actions
That almost looks fake. Great capture.

LOL. Very unusual composition. Love the reflection on the rail and the dof.
