10-year old's catcher's mitt and baseball (ball was scotch taped into the mitt), standing on its end and lit with a garage light and a halogen desk lamp. Used PS to crop, resize, USM, adjust levels and saturation.

A little tighter crop (so that only the glove is visible) and a little softer light removing the overblown highlights would have gotten a couple extra points. That aside, this is a good idea for the challenge.
I like how you included the glove in the shot. Focus and clarity are good. Lighting is great. I like the detail we can get out of the glove, and the ball. The textures are great. I tink it's a nice shot, and it's definately centered. technically good. I don't think I can offer any suggestion on how to make this better. ~Heather~
Ah, another original idea! Nice colors and textures - definitely centered. Great as is, but if you want to add some points - figure out a way to make it less static. Perhaps some dust of talc taken right as the ball hit the glove? (simulated of course.) Keep up the good work.
