There are at least five pictures above yours that don't deserve to be (although they're all tremendous efforts). I don't know if you're very good or very lucky, but this is very nice.
Congratz. 10th place? I commented that this was the only 10 I gave and for me this was the winner.
Still a worthy place to finish in the top 10 out of more then 1000 entries. :)
Ironic really... I see you only gave 1 TEN yourself in this challenge and that was to the image that actually won.

Wonderfully enchanting image. I love the almost mystical atmosphere that this image exudes. Lovely play of light and beautiful softness. Superb. 10
Ps. I have given 13 nine's and this is the only 10 I have given in this challenge. This is for me my personal favorite. This image just has that something extra imo over the very excellent images that I gave a 9 to.
It was a tale passed down from Father to fawn as a bedtime tale and fawn to fawn as a whispered spook story in the meadow under high sunlight. The tale of the dark of the woods, down past the old fir tree and at the beginning of the end of their known territory.
So it was that three friends set out one day, growing in curiosity and courage to finally confront such tales. For they did not believe all that they were told, and wanted to set the record straight. To come back and tell everyone that it was just a deeper part of the wood, and nothing to fear.
So they had set out, and had come to the beginning of the path into the gloom that was there. Laughing amongst themselves and teasing each other about being frightened, but not really feeling any fear.
Not feeling any, that is, until they came to the threshold, and suddenly it seemed as if the sunlight broke upon the path there and simply ceased to be. For it was not just gloom that shrouded that pathway, but a darkness so complete that it was almost unnatural.
They found themselves standing on the brink of that entrance, still as they could be, not daring to breathe. The laughter and teasing had stopped. They dared not make a sound. They stood rigid, their eyes opened wide in surprise and, now that they were here, a sudden fear.
Fear it was now that gripped them certainly, for at once they knew that the tales were not just mere ghost stories. Deep inside, their very instincts told them that something here was wrong. Very, very wrong.
Yet they stood, and stared into that darkness, which seemed to shrink and constrict around them, and despite all their sudden terror there was something about that dark. Something that seemed to call to them. Something that whispered in soft, calming tones and gentle musical notes. Something that beckoned, beckoned them on.
With eyes glazed over and a wobble in their step, they began to walk forward, closer now. Stepping into the emptiness before them, black as the deepest pit, there came the sound of a ragged breathing. A sound of anticipation and desire and... hunger.
They continued on, step by step, hoof over hoof, and...
... a cry came from behind them, and startled them from their reverie, and they jumped backwards for the blackness, shocked and now fully awake, and what they saw there froze their very hearts and screams broke from their throats. The spell had been broken by that shout from the light, and now they turned tail and tore back from the direction they came, terrified. They saw their parents there, and ran to them, crying and gibbering nonsense, and were taken in by them and then removed from that accursed place.
And in the darkness something cried out in anger and outrage, and its roar echoed through the woods, and for many days the three fawns could not be comforted, and their only words were about the eyes.
Beautiful nature photo, I like how the black mass at left creates a natural frame. Interesting visually that the three deer aren't all the same tone. Lovely slanted light. They all seem to be noticing you at the same time. If this were a storyboard, the next frame would show their tails as they sped away.
Reminds me of the 5 deers I saw yesterday which my dog scared of before I got my camera out.. Your shot looks like a fairytale, and I like fairytales =) 8
It's a magic mood, they're surely some fairies hidden in this wonderful photo.
I feel good when I look at your photo, it's quiet and peaceful.

This has to be Mr. Yanko If it is not, consider this a huge compliment
This is a wonderful capture. The framing, the softness caused by the fog, the light ... all great
Well done
Not sure I like the title, but the image is nice. The rays of light work well with the comp... perhaps cropping out a bit more of the tree on the left... just a bit.
Geez, where do people find this fantastic opportunities. Love the foggy feel and the sun rays, and how the deer all seem to be staring right at you. Poor guy in the middle though looks like he lost a leg! Amazing shot.
Second pass through, somehow I missed this one. Bumping up as it is beautiful...amazing light, love the strong triangle the subjects make. Looks like paradise. Best of luck. 10

A photograph I wish I could have taken! This must have been a magical moment to come across, I certainly get a magical tingle seeing the shapes looming in the mist.
Don't like it.... There's an area at the back that's blown out and the Deer are really distracting, should have cloned them out. Apart from that I like the border i guess.
Voted earlier coming back to comment now. I love the lighting here - whenever there is mist with sunshine it really can transform the scene into something mystical and magical. The woods are transformed into a magical place with some nice sun rays playing through the mist. These woods breathe even more magic with the appearance of three deer that seem to appear from out of the mist. Love how you composed this to have the large tree in the far left and it's branches act as a frame for this composition. It is like a curtain being drawn aside so that we can see this woodland trio. This is breathe taking to see but I bet it was even moreso to experience. Thank you for sharing this wonderful capture.
Wow, what a perfectly timed capture. Their ears are all the same, the streams of light from the sun filtering through the branches is positively from a storybook, the natural framing from the tree makes this feel solid.
I love this shot and i know it was probably hard to get it from this perspective, but the black tree at the left is kind of distracting. But i can't give you a low vote, the light and the silhouetes are great, really!
This is the type of shot I imagined winning this contest: A natural phenomenon combined with natural beauty along with amazing timing and placement of the photographer. 9
Stunning...captivating and sheer beauty. It also presents a bit of mystery for me. The dark in the front with the rays coming in from the back make that happen. The pose they presented to you was such a gesture. Again, beautiful!
This is an incredible image. I like the rays coming in, the silhouette of the deer, and the massive tree on the left. Nit picking though, i would crop out some of the tree on top.. the strength of this shot is the lower half.
