I woke early one morning and not being able to sleep, I drove out to Connemara. The wind was high and the clouds were moving fast. I took the right turn up by Lough Inagh and was greeted by a rainbow over the 12 Bens, formed from the Sun hitting the spray from the lake.

Thanks for all your comments. I've been very busy recently and was absolutely delighted to see such a wealth of comments
This really is my favourite photograph.
Some answers to questions not asked:
This is the west of Ireland (about an hours drive from my house), not Scotland, although I am looking forward to going there next month!
No HDR, this is a single image. I've used a 3 stop Grad ND filter on front of the lens. Needed constant cleaning from the spray, more than one shot was ruined by spray on the filter!
As to saturation, yep probably a little saturated, but that usually helps rather than hinders in competition. Muted tones tend not to do so well (just an observation).
Someone mentioned the image was soft, and I have to say that the preview here does look a little soft. The original isn't, and I resized with Bicubic Sharper, so it should be as sharp here. Maybe it's something in the php conversion.. I'll watch out for it in future.
One final thing.. I never made the connection with the tree and the rainbows end! Thanks!
Great DOF and colors of the marsh greens and rocks. How great is it to have the heavens light everything just right. Glad you took the oppourtunity to capture this....and a rainbow!? Too much luck for you and for me, the viewer.
Such an enchanting photo. You've managed to capture that rainbow moment the rest of us always dream of. Truely a GEM of an image. 9. Well done and good luck for the rest of the challenge.
i like that you included the foreground to give the viewer a sense of place. great timing and great handling of the colors. DOF perfect for subject. well done!
Um...landscapes generally are not my thing...but ok, well taken rocks, stream, lake, fields, mountain, clouds, breaking light .... and a rainbow all in one pic...mercy, you got me.
Okay, you are my 100th comment. I think I'll rest now! This is a really fantastic capture of a great moment. I didn't rate it highly enough first time around, so I'm going to bump you up two numbers :) Good luck!
Very lovely! Love how you captured this full rainbow that arcs over the landscape. The composition is great because you have it composed such that the bow seems to enclose that middle mountain range I see here. I also like how you included the stones that cut across the water in the forground. They are like stepping stones that beckon one to skip across them to get closet to the rainbow. Also the way the rocks are arranged is in a slight curved arc that subtly mimics the arc of the rainbow - a mirroring of patterns that adds visual interest to the overall scene. The colors of the rainbow are very lovely and vibrant, but the greens of the landscape seem a tad too oversaturated. Mayhap you boosted the color/saturation levels? If so maybe you could tone down just the greens a tad to appear less oversaturated. Other than than a lovely scene and great capture.
