Taken at the Red bull Snow Scrapers competition in New York City, at East River Park. There were some pretty big riders there, like Shawn White, and it was jam session, so these guys were throwing big air tricks for an hour straight, on right after the other.
The were practicing while it was still a bit light outside, but once the competition got under way it was pitch black, with only the spot lights they had to light the jump and the landing. The pros had flashes set up but were of course unavailable to me.
This shot pretty much tested the limits of my 70-200/4.0. Shot wide open, it is still quite sharp but I wish I had 2.8. Luckily I got there early enough to stake out a good spot before the crowds arrived, so focal length was not an issue.
I hope you like it.
