I added a puzzle effect on a photo of myself, printed it and colored some of the pieces black. I took a photo of my of my own photo, and here is that result.
Post process:
Raw, fixed WB and saturation.
Opened it in cs3
Soft light with a high pass filter
Color Dodge
Merge
8-bit and saved.

This is hard to see for me. I think perhaps larger puzzle pieces wouldn't make it so difficult to make out. Also, perhaps a lighter background (white instead of black?). It might be cool to see the light coming through the pieces.
