Three speedlights were used to capture this photo. One on the right side at 90 degrees, one behind at 45 degrees and one below that was ligthing the background and under the fabric. The background effect was created by lighting a transparent colored plastic net. Gaussian blur + grain was added on the fabric to give the look of sand. The two pieces of the puzzle where hanging from above by using a transparent string.

I think this would do better on a smooth surface, but I like the way the colors work together in this. I like the lighting too, the way the edges stand out.
