I used black trash bags to make the back drop. I blacked out the hilights and reflected flash from behind the objects.(there has to be an easier way)These are all puzzles,"wooden, wire, horseshoes conected by chains, with
the ring around the chains to be removed.

Not sharp enough, not simple enough. It feels like you were trying to cram too many puzzles into this. Pick one and reall focus on getting the composition, the lighting and the colors right and even a simple picture can turn out really well.
