Instead of the first mentioned meaning of horizon (earth meets sky), I took this shot from the perspective/definition of horizon as:
"range of perception or experience d: something that might be attained " "Merriam Webster"
The book IS a dictionary which is representative of seeing 'new horizons', the glasses are the 'range of perception' and in terms of the meaning of horizon being a background thing, the back of the book, meeting the background is a horizon as well.
The book is tilted, (stuffed a piece of folded paper under several pages to tilt it) the glasses are tilted and the point of view of the book is tilted. :)

I loved the comments that I got because even though it was seen as a DNMC (and I can see why), the comments were aimed at the photo itself and not just a DNMC comment. I'm especially thankful for the scores in the 5 to 10 range and quite pleasantly surprised because I really just went with what I wanted to put in this time and what I felt had meaning to me. It seems that many understood that and I thank you all!

I wrote a comment and it never posted - how annoying! I have to say that I did not get a sense of tilt from the book. Maybe because the area before the book is so dark? For me, there is no reference horizon that would give me a clue about the position of the book. I can see where the glasses are at a slight angle but it just makes me think of one of those books that are hard to keep closed. I like the yellowish sepia-tone color - makes me think of one who is trying to read in the dark using only candlelight.
