This is a (real) skull I used to use for teaching.
I wanted to shoot the skull fairly precisely, it is carefully lit and set upon glass. I then wanted to have a complete contrast with the 'post-it'; ensuring that it was hand written and slapped on. Originally, I did think about having a typeset post it; but when I thought about it, that's not how people use them; they just scribble and stick - and I wanted to capture that here too.
Edit:
Smart Sharpen
Neat Image
Selection of everything except the 'post-it' note; monochrome with infrared filter
Change of hue of yellow for colour correction of the post-it
Spot editing of a few specks of dust on the surface and of the opening into the cranial cavity and the metal work.
I finished by adding a sepia filter to the whole image to restore the bone colour.
