Photographer’s Notes The wreck of the Carthaginian lies in 97 feet of water south of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii (USA). My wife and I dove this wreck a few days ago. Interesting dive because of the wreck, but also interesting for two other reasons: 1) During the dive we watched a submarine slip silently by; and 2) A little later we watched a mother humpback whale and her baby swim by, nearly close enough to touch.
Unfortunately, the whales were by so quickly I missed the photo … DRAT!

I can feel the silence of the deep here but I also hear the bubbles escaping from the diver. It's a very strong image for conveying the feeling of "Silence" but without the diver it would have been even better still I feel. But it gets an 8 from me. Very nice image.
