"Take a photo where a single tree is the main subject." -- And that's what I've done. Nowhere is it implied or stated that this has to be a real arboreal tree or even a fake representation of a tree. It just says "tree" and this is known as a tree.
This will fail, but I'm happy with it.

Just as a figured, voters are tanking on what is, I feel, a great (or very good) photo.
Challenge Theme: Take a photo where a single tree is the main subject.
Main Entry: tree Pronunciation: \ˈtrç\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English trçow; akin to Old Norse trç tree, Greek drys, Sanskrit dâru wood
Date: before 12th century
1 a: a woody perennial plant having a single usually elongate main stem generally with few or no branches on its lower part b: a shrub or herb of arborescent form
It didn't come up for me in voting, and I really don't know how I would have gone if it had come up. I think I would have considered it for a few minutes and then gone back and re-read the challenge description. Of course, hindsight is 20/20 and I really don't know for sure how I would have gone. My wife is into genealogy, so I prefer to think I woudl have recognized it as fitting. A good entry and very out of the box.
Yes, it's good out of the box concept for tree challenge. But still "too much" out of the box for me when chellenge description clearly said shoot a single tree.
How is it both a good out of the box concept AND "too much" out of the box.
As you said, "chellenge description clearly said shoot a single tree." -- This does that completely.

Cool idea! Now why didn't I think of that? On the technical side it's nicely composed and the post processing is bang on, but what I really like about the shot is that it tells a story and it's original. You don't see too much of that here. It will be interesting to see how this one does with the voters. I'm thinking not too well. Hope I'm wrong. Good luck!!
