Lest you think I spend all my spare time scouring my urban playground in search of interesting faces. Well. I guess go ahead and think it, because that's pretty much what I do :) Thus, the reason I jumped at choosing "People" for my theme.
Alvin Whitaker told me about how he used to own an oil company -- "back in the day": Alvin Whitaker Oil. Then, he admitted to bad choices and. . . he pointed to his head and made that "crazy" gesture, and said, "and look at me now" :( At first, I didn't understand the "crazy" gesture, so he clarified: "I lost my mind".
Lovely- you captured this man's spirit beautifully and technically great. I'm not sure about the processing though- for me the skin looks a bit leathery and the blacks quite hard? Still beautiful though.
Sandy, this is just another classic shot of what you do best - make people feel special. I bet this made his day. On a technical side, the lighting is just awesome; the detail on his face tells a story all on it's own.
Fantastic picture! I fight myself just taking pictures of random people much less finding out the story behind the face. This is what I'm afraid I'm missing!
Sandy, dear, you put me to shame with your people on the street portraits. I don't have the nerve to go up and ask people to let me take their picture, let alone find out their stories! I'm humbled! And this is awesome.
Wow, Sandy, a lot of depth in Alvin's face. Beautiful as ever, of course. My wife works with these people full time. I don't know how she does it. They need more than anyone can give them.
I'm not sure I really like the vignette. For my taste, it's a little too obvious, and it seems to have caused some sort of color shift on the upper right.
