Whoa! This will be the Kodak POTD on Feb. 24, 2010 (and the photo blog)!! OMG! All of you are the reason as you have lifted my confidence to even submit this!
This foggy location was absolutely magical! (And freezing!!) Tons of shots to choose from, but this one really appealed.
dark from the fog, but so interesting.

OMG.....omg....thank you for all of the wonderful comments, favs and votes!! This is a HUGE PB for me. To do this well in a challenge filled with beautiful shots and so much talent, I am humbled at my placement. It sat at over 7 until the last day and a half and then couldn't seem to get over the hump again. I'm absolutely over the moon with this one. This is actually a color photo, NOT a black and white conversion...the fog literally sucked the color out of the scene.
Again, thank you to everyone for enjoying this as much as I do......wow!

I have this one tree on a farmer's lot that I've been spotting for years. The other day I was on my break and drove there to eat my lunch, and stare at the mountainous landscape, and that tree would have made a superb image because it was snowing lightly and it was also kind of foggy. Of course I didn't have my camera but I intend on going back to capture a similar moment in time, whenever it snows AND is foggy again. I have a feeling those conditions will not be happening for a while yet... fog and snow. hmmm
This is the kind of shot I want for my living room. Very beautiful and sublime, tranquil, relaxing. Nature just has that effect on me. That's why I drive to that spot and stare at mountains on my lunch break. :)
I believe I have fished this lake. Do you drive through that little neighborhood on the base, and it's on the left? It's been 20 years ago or more. Perfectly wonderful photo, deserves every bit of that score (and more). Belated congrats.
This was an amazing shot. I told you it was good. Hope to see more. It is hard to believe this is actually color without conversion. I liked the other shot with the geese as well. Will be in touch. JP
Thanks a lot to you for sharing such a wonderful and powerful image, yet such peaceful!! I could stare at it for hours, I already marked it as a favorite.
Congratulations on your score and placement and your new P.B

Congratulations on a new personal best. This place looks very familiar. Is it somewhere I am familiar with? That morning shoot now has two PBs. The exposure and processing make this look magical, well done Kat.
GASP!!! KAT!!! Ohmygosh! I am so in awe of this photo! It is a masterpiece! A fabulous photo to grace the top spot on your profile page. Congratulations, Girlfriend! Did you take this in Dallas ???? Why didn't we get any weather that cold :)
Great shot. The bw conversion really works well on this, and I love the how the background "fades," that really gives a sense of depth to it. Overall, this shot is just wonderfully peaceful feeling.
now thats a shot....maybe to much on the bottom...other wize i like the balance...like what appears to be black and white but this is a full color pic....yeah,..i hear not nothing....being in places like this many times....always wishing i had a camera with me...just great....
Stunning, this is just stunning, I love your negative space, the softness, excellent black and white colour choice, sharp and detailed focus, well done
