Great Blue Heron takes flight in the afterglow at Lake Trafford, S W Florida.
Hand held using a small folded tripod swinging under the camera to help stabilize it. Manual 35mm f2 Nikkor "O", Ai.
Basic adjustments.
I was about 8 ft from the bird, and expected it to fly when an approaching boat arrived at the ramp on the right, just out of the frame. I set focus and shot a few while I waited, then moved into position as the bird was beginning to turn around to take off. It was pretty dark out, so the overall shot was exposed a bit dark to keep the shutter speed needed to get the bird in flight without getting a total blur shot.
