I think I always submit the best I have for the challenges so I always struggle to find a very best of shot.
OK, I like this shot on so many levels, it's movement the fact that it was a MF shot, the lighting, and Kazaiya's expression, She is only 10, my very good friends daughter she is exceptionally talented at drawing and design and has already expressed her desire to be in the arts/design arena. When I asked if she would like to have a few shots taken she said 'sure' "I better get a few things sorted out to wear" she was very professional and seemed to be very aware of what was going on, finding the light for herself and finding the camera, good communication etc etc and she had never done anything like modelling before... hmmm.. So I asked "would you like to do modelling when you grow up?" She smiled and said "what are we doing now then?" Not cheeky, just smart.
I recently set her up with a Mac and an older copy of CS1 photoshop, now she has a digicam and there is no stopping her go, she helps her Mother Marva who is a dress maker doing all kinds of hand made items from pillow cases to iPod holders.

This is magical! The light, the color, the hair - all very very good, but what really makes it is her very wise and impish expression. From your notes, she's one very talented, very smart young lady and she makes an excellent photographic subject!
She glanced towards her tormentor, the boy that wouldn't leave well enough alone, who teased her endlessly. In class, on the playground, on the walk home from school. She did not understand why he had singled her out, she only knew that he was relentless, and looked upon her with disdain, loathing, and sneering hatred.
She glanced towards her tormentor, sitting there with his so-called friends, snickering with them and tossing casual glances her way, teeth bared in that obnoxious way of his. As she looked at him, something began to change about her. The air grew heavy and a breeze picked up. She began to smile so slightly it was barely noticeable, and the breeze turned to a wind, that circled around her, tossing her hair to and fro. The light then began to change, pulsing about her, the daylight disappearing, turning to haunting strikes of yellow and green, like a prairie storm gathering before a cyclone.
She glanced toward her tormentor, and the other children all began to scream and cry and run into the school. The commotion then caused him to look toward her, and he suddenly realized what was happening, and his eyes grew wide. He began to stumble backwards in a panicked urge to get away from her, but fell hard on his seat, and his wrist bent backwards with searing pain, and he cried out.
She stared at her tormentor, and grinned. He suddenly burst into tears and a dark stain began growing in the front of his pants, and he scrambled as best as he could away from her with a broken wrist and his mind beginning to become unraveled, and she glared, and she grinned, and she then said just a single word.
She spoke that word to her tormentor, and his mind was destroyed, and he collapsed on the ground, still breathing, but his eyes only staring, and a strand of drool escaped the corner of his mouth. With that, the wind about her died and the daylight returned, and her hair settled back into place, and she seemed to return to herself as if from a trance, and she stared at the boy that lay there.
She glanced at her tormentor, sitting there with his friends, snickering with them and tossing casual glances her way, and she held her head up high and walked off towards her class, and smiled at the revenge of her fantasy.
Her hair!!! Was she jumping? Her "huh, what was that" expression suits the wild background. I like the one sided lighting, so that she has the shadow on the right side of her face, yet is still illuminated. That cleft in her chin adds a nice bit of character to her face. Well done.
