Picture of Ben A`an taken late evening after a hillwalk to the summit.
Adjustments to contrast, saturation and sharpness. Sky softened using blur tool and some dodging and burning used to accentuate the light falling on the ground and trees.
Noise cleaned up using "Neat Image".

Seems like you might not be active on DPC any longer. I came across this image and just have to leave a gushing comment. It is truly spectacular! The light, the process - all out of this world. Hope you are doing something amazing with your photographic talents.
Awesome shot Geewhy, great lighting, yourself and BobsterLobster (3rd place) have used "Neatimage" to good effect, I'll be checking out the software for myself.
incredible...it feels like an oil painting from the masters... nice composition.
looking at this picture stirs feelings inside me. can't expain it, but this is very well done.
Beautiful picture. Congratulations! That is one place that we wanted to go to when we were in Scotland but did not have time to get there. My relatives go to the Trossachs often. They love it.
The only way i can see this wonderfully atmospheric and exemplary shot not winning this week is if the 'don't believe it's legal' crows get to it too heavily. Has a quality reminiscent of the painter Caspar David Friedrich; and there is little higher praise than that. When i grow up, I want to be able to take photos like this.
Of course, I forgot about motorcycles in mid-air ... :-(
Thanks to all for the kind words,
this was my first chance since joining DPC to get out and into my beloved hills..it was also my first attempt at dodging and burning (which helped to emphasise the sunlight and shadows)Hopefully, I`ll get a little better as time goes on.
For the people who expressed an interest in how this was achieved...(nothing too difficult)Took around 6 exposures at different settings, chose the one which had the most sky detail..then used curves to return some detail to the dark areas, finished it off with a little dodging and burning (for reasons above)then reduced noise slightly in Neat image.
Thanks again to everyone who voted and commented.

Nice silhouettes, the light really adds a mood to the whole photo. The placement of the mountain in the frame really enhances the composition. It almost looks like a painting.

Beautiful picture. Where did you do it? How did you do it? It reminds me of "Lord of the Rings". Very nice composition, artistic. For me, perfect 10. Hope it wins a ribbon.
I had high hopes of this as a thumbnail and liked it instantly when viewed full size. A wonderful ethereal feel and an excellent composition. Unfortunately it is let down by some kind of square artefacts (seen particularly in dark area lower left) that suggest overdone post-capture processing. 7 rather than 8 or 9.
Such SPECTACULAR lighting! Perfect composition. I usually try to make a suggestion on how to improve an image, but in this case - you've done it so well, I'm speechless. Get ready for a ribbon.
This looks amazing, so much like an oil painting with the lower down trees and ground covering. Might have to take a trip to see this for myself! Top marks!
A truly stunning shot. But it's hard for me to believe you've never taken a landscape before. My interpretation of the topic is to go someplace you've never been to take a shot of something you've never shot before. So a perfect 10 for the image, but a 5 for following the topic. Average being a 7.
I really like the subject and colours; however, it looks either over-processed or maybe a bit out of focus and it makes the overall effect a bit distracting. You may have had a better shot taken as-is.
