I found this butterfly as it is here, clinging to a broken blade of dry grass. Shot though the barn window, backlighting gives the overlay look on the left. Front light on the butterfly.
Processed in CS3, two b/w adjustment layers and curves.

This is a beautiful, sophisticated photograph. It is many-textured, both literally and figuratively, and so there's a fresh reward for every additional minute spent looking at it. I'm up to about 12 nearly 15 minutes in total with it so far, and it hasn't run out of gas yet. So I must award it the Order of the Thumb:
I'm a sucker for moths. And you've framed him perfectly. This is simple but mysterious. It has that sublime feeling of being carefully planned yet insane at the same time. The textures and tones are gorgeous and outrageous. I only wish my soul had such a home.
Fabulous abstract. The lighting, the shape and tone of the butterfly and frame, the fine thread/twig. Love this. I hope it does really well, but have notice that abstracts have a hard time here.
