I took this in the "Election Room" on our college campus for the school's paper. Only two students were in there at the time (This is Rafael Trinidad). It was 1 hour and 30 mins before the results were announced and the campus was a ghost town. I'm pretty sure everyone in the country was glued to their TV or computer screens.
It was the first election I've been able to vote in so it was very important to me. I had to be in a photo class at the time but our teacher brought in a really old radio for us to listen to. We all crowded around to hear McCain's concession speech and I left class early to run a 1/2 mile to my car so I could hear Obama's victory speech. Then I went to my friend Belen's house to watch more about it on TV where I found several of my friends also grouped around the TV. Belen's Aunt and Uncle (who she lives with) are overtly racist Republicans and kept trying to get us to turn off the TV but we just smiled at them while they walked swearing all over the house.
I have never felt more truly proud to be an American than that night.
