This challenge was fun, as it required a lot of peeping around. There are not many shops here, which use 'displays'. Most of the shops just have open entrances. After many rounds of the shops and many more clicks, I have finally settled on this picture.
The shot is of a shoe-shop window in the background, and a shoe-mender who had put up his shop right in front of the side-window. Call it - 'Co branding' or 'Busniness Symbiosis'. :-).
It was taken in a very low light, so the lighting (and subsequent post-processing) was difficult. I don't know how the DPCers will like it; but I liked this scene, and so I am sharing. :-)
Good Day and Merry Christmas!

I am glad that I can now write a 'post post'. This was a feature I missed most while I was only a registered user.
Ah! What should I say: "Thank you very (and so much) for your comments". I value them the most. And if a picture can delight in any-which-way, it is worth any effort. Frankly, although I liked the subject a lot, I thought this picture would do just 'above the water' in voting. So, I was pleasantly surprised, that you kept it afloat :-). Thanks for that too! :-).
A Happy New Year to You! ~Love~

Vikram, this is stunning. The yellow area of the shoe shop, and the orange area about the shoe mender, and the radically different lighting in each, are what set this up for me, so that I can play the two against each other. The shoe mender by himself - his posture on the box against the textured background is a picture in itself. Great complexities indicated, sharpness not required.
Congrats on your first ribbon, Vikram. This is an exceptionally good image, to my eyes; understated, nothing flashy, but it sees "beneath the surface" and compels us to look. I bet it's lovely full size...
Ohhhhhhhh I LOVE THIS! What can I say except Mega Congratulations on your award-winning photo. The beauty of this one will live on far beyond the challenge.
Very good. Well composed, great subject, and I like the contrast in light between the window and the gentleman. I especially like that bit of reflection in his glasses.
I love to see a shot that isn't all snow and tinsel! Top marks for doing a shot with a human interest. Beautiful and interesting shot with lots of detail for my eyes to wander over. Seems pretty orange though?
The light is great, it makes the moment much better, because it gives an old aspect to it. I like the empty expression on his face, the border and the perspective of the photo. The only problems i see is that harsh aspect on some shoes, which could be less bright with some adjustments and the yellow that is maybe too much, and can be controled with some adjustments too! Nice shot! Probably one of the bests of this challenge.
