I'm quite surprised that this is getting about a 4.5. I had a very difficult time taking it...

Well, it did better than I thought. Thanks for the comments. I had a difficult time, as I said. I had a failed attempt at a glycerine drop reflecting stars, so I cut an apple, put some red food coloring and rubbed with glycerine for a sheen. I just couldn't get the lighting right at all. Oh well....

that little shadow underneath is silly. mabye a closer crop wold have made this more abstract and itneresting

Just seems rather plain to me. I think perhaps a change in the lighting may have shown off that juicy texture a little more, and appealed to me better. A good effort, though.

Perhaps place subject off center or make lighting more dramatic to make image have more impact.
