You probably worked hard to get this effect, but in my opinion it didn't work. Too bright background, over sharpened, and strange exposure.

Really great photo. Even the almost white background works. If you are going to do more backlit photos like this, it might be worth looking for a more interesting translucent background.
I can see what you were trying to do, but it's a bit difficult to notice the rust here. Maybe if you'd used a torch or other light source to light up the top of the tool?
Cute title and very exciting image. I like the starkness of it and appreciate the play of very light to very dark. Good shadow effect. Good luck in the Challenge.
