Brian
Have seen this photo now on 5 different monitors (after I voted)
On my monitor, and four others, it appeared the same, it looks overexposed.
On one monitor, the detail in the ice (was sand) came out, it didn't look overexposed, and the photo looked brilliant.
Which means
a) I need a new monitor
b) You probably didn't get the score it deserved as I think many people have the same problem that I had (the other monitors belonged to people ont his site who vote as well, so its not just me that has a shitty monitor)
Just wanted to let you know. Had I voted using the one monitor that showed the detail, this would have then been in the top few for me in the challenge.
Brian, this is gorgeous! I love how you brought it to life. You really did create a world all it's own with the way you chose to process this shot. I love that bird out there in the water too - that really adds a wonderful finishing touch. Congrats on the top 15 and a very nice score, too!
The overall shot has a bleakness to it which matches the environment well. The snow appears to be overexposed (on my monitor at least) and the detail has been lost as a result. A good idea that meets the challenge topic well
I do surely like this picture. The dog, the shorebird, the yellow raincoat, and the chuckit. Not to mention the treatment which makes the place so magically ideational that Art might as well be here as not.
Is he wearing a skirt?! Interesting scene. I really like the way the dog's attention is focussed (looks like the owner has one of those slime-free tennis ball throwing thingies) and the oblivious bird in the water.
