Some type of woodpecker, I couldn't get a better perspective and after 1 snap he flew away. Very gray day. I was hoping for some political pictures, unfortunately no cameras were permitted inside the polling place.
It looks like you nailed it with the one shot, Woody is focused well and I love that splash of color. I'm not so sure about the crop, I think for this type of vignette it would work better if he were more centered, although that may have been difficult with the shooting conditions.
Nice catch, kelli ! It looks like a Downy woodpecker- we have them at the feeder all the time here. The "Hairy woodpecker " is a lot bigger but otherwise looks very similar...
