The courthouse in Fort Worth Texas, reflected in a nearby office tower. I was actually trying to reproduce one of my personal favorites that I shot about a year ago:
It took me three visits downtown to get the shot I wanted. The original was shot midday, and showed a lot of the nice detail on the courthouse roof. I tried to hit this on a Saturday afternoon, but could not remember where I shot the first one from, and the reflection was impossible to duplicate from another location. I had to go look at all my other shots from the first session in order to figure out where I had been.
I stopped again on the way home from work Monday. I was a bit late to the scene this time, so the sun was going down. That's normally great light, but not for this shot! I really didn't get exactly the shot I had in mind.
I left work a little early on Tuesday and this time got exactly what I was after. There were some nice clouds in the sky, with enough sun breaking through to illuminate the courthouse nicely and make it stand out. I think I even improved on my first shot a little. The votes will tell, but I nailed what I was after, so this shot is a success for me no matter what.
If this were advanced editing I may have done some selective color adjustments on the green of the dome and the blue in the sky.
Pre-challenge notes:
Expecting something in the high fives and always hoping for a 6+. I'd love to have this one on my profile page.

Well, this one is going about as hoped. Stayed above a 6 for a while and then got slammed with some low votes and is now just under a 6. Could still make a 6 if the late voters are generous.
Interesting thing I noticed is that this image really show the difference between my monitors and home and work. The work monitor is calibrated and the tones are noticeably different, especially in the cloud detail, where the calibrated monitor shows some of them as a more distinct and less saturated gray. It also prints less saturated as well, but has a nice illustration-like appearance to it. Looks good on my cabinet at work.
Post challenge notes:
Very pleased that this came in over the magic 6, but I'm also a little disappointed that it missed getting on my profile page by only 3/100. So close, but so far.
A first for me on this challenge is that I received more votes of 7 than anything else. Looks like there were just enough people who didn't like it to hold it down a bit.

Excellent placing and score! Has a very slight yellowish tinge on my monitor but I suspect that's the color of the light that time of day. Still a very intriguing and pleasing view.
