I went to the junk yard to find rusty metal for a background, and lugged home a 40 pound box of some sort in the back of my car. :) Then I dug out my old pointe shoes from my ballet days when I was a youngster, set the whole thing up on my porch with my camera set on its 10 second timer, and voila! Set the camera on macro mode, white balance set to "shade", and did some some curves adjustments and boosted saturation in Photoshop, unsharp mask at .3 pixels and about 150%. Then I cropped a bit.
