A set of large chain couplings from an old train at the Prestonpans Mining Museum in East Lothian.
No advaced editing used. Changed the levels slightly, USM and used the Highlight/shadows tool in Photoshop CS.

If you would have cropped closer, just the hole in between the two links plus some structure around it, then it would have been more abstract.
