Looks like his tongue is a suspension bridge with those long bits of yellow whatever in there. Nice detail on the eyes. Overall cast seems a little yellow/orange to me, like the image needs a white balance adjustment.
What makes this an outstanding photo is the b/g color matches the color in the bird and has a very Autumn feeling to it. Nice catch light in the birds eye.. might have bumped it a bit more and dodged the color in it's eye, but that is a personal choice.. I like the reflection on the birds beak - nicely photographed.
Very nice capture! I Like the menacing look, and the open beak is very challenging in a "Dont mess with me dude.." kinda way. Your processing is well done.
