Another from the market. These old women are dotted throughout the markets and spend their days selling and chopping homegrown vegetables. They're a lot of fun to watch. This was a much larger crop, but I decided to take it into only her face to give a sense of who she is. Next time I'll shoot closer to capture more detail.
Good job with the lighting. Faces under hats are dark. This works, even at the expense of the overexposed hat. You seem to favor shallow DOF, and you get some great results with it. I would think it's even more challenging to do with candids.
Quite taken with this. Partly her dress and hat and the way you have done the colour, but also the composition with the strong lines and really nice way the lighting showcases her skin. For me this supports the self respect shown by her attire as well as the dignity of her work. (There are days when I feel the most important things I have done have been humble manual tasks. Is this a sign of age or wisdom?)
