Taken from the Gastow bridge around after dusk in the SE corner of Central Park.
Walked around Central Park for this challenge, with the object of finding a cool reflection shot, as that was as far as my creativity would lead me for the this challenge.
I've been all over the park but I have never noticed this view. And this is another reason why I love DPC, because for as much as I would love to think that my creativity is boundless and that I am driven by the art of photography to go out and take pictures at all times, sometimes I'm too busy to uphold that ideal, and sometimes I just wouldn't think of an idea unless I was prompted by a topic.
In this instance, I probably would not have been wandering the park with my tripod at night unless I was looking for reflections. So once in while you find success in things that you're 'forced' to shoot, and from there you grow. So thank you DPC!
The Shot: Set up my tripod on top of the bridge wall, where it stood very precariously as I angled the lens to catch the scene. The viewfinder was high above my head so I was just blindly adjusting and taking shots until I finally fit the entire scene in.
PP: The D2h SUCKS at low light shots. It really does, in fact, the revised D2hs remedied the defects to some extent. The colors come out crazy, the noise is unbearable, it's all just wacky. So I played a lot with the colors in PS:Bridge to get some cool blues and such. Lightened the shadows and darkened the highlights, to try to balance out the 2 halves as they were so different in exposure. Then in CS3, Shad/High to again balance the 2 halves, curves, some play with the colors, Resize, USM, Neat Image (a lot b/c of noise), USM, s4w

Hi, Love this picture but did not vote during the challenge. It prompted me to look at your other pics of NY and they're also great. (I plan to get there someday) Congrats on your previous ribbon for city lights, which you posted the original for (in color). How about posting the original for this one? Cheers!
