 Exposed as soon as the cue ball was hit.
Editing: adjustment layer to enhance yellow and red colours.
Lighting: afternoon light sifting through the window behind the camera, 3 suspended CFLs above the pool table.

Thanks for the comments, folks, I shall try and improve in the future.

The capture could sure use some work, especially about the background, as rightly mentioned.
Maybe I should have tried climbing up the lights hanging directly above the table to capture the shot against the original background.
About the vertical line, whenever I take a photo with ISO higher than 100, that line comes.

I have an S5IS by Canon (re-quoted for ready reference). Any ideas on what the problem is?

not sharp enough and the colors are kinda blegh, needs more contrast... good idea but I think the execution could use some work...

personal opinion - the door/mirror in the background is a bit distracting.

nice catch. The image seems to be flat, perhaps a little out of focus and the background on the top right is really distracting.

It's hard to tell what's in focus and the vertical line in the lower part of the picture is distracting.
