Thanks for all the comments and great scores. My highest rated photograph yet! There were several excellent abstracts in this challenge and I was so close to my first ribbon. This shell is beautiful but kind of boring for a photograph. At least this was my initial impression before back lighting and looking closer. I was pleasantly surprised by what I discovered. This image turned out better than I expected with only minor editing in Photoshop Elements. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Very cool image. Looks alot like the shape of the sun. Can't wait to see what it is.

Best one so far by a big margin! The highlights on the ridges work beatuifully again the black background. 10

Excellent composition - the gradual transition of brightness from bottom right to upper left is quite effective.

Wonderful abstract - I have no clue what this is. I love the colors and the texture of the fringy stuff. The lighting is very interesting and aids in a compelling composition.

well done - very nice lighting. maybe the crop is a bit too tight ie: more empty space to the top and left

Very primordial. Nice lines, light, and color.

wow, this is gorgeous! My guess is a shell, but the lighting and tones are beautiful. I will be back to this one to mark it higher on second look!
