The pinwheel and the eolian generator, great idea, not only is there a spectacular difference of proportion in size and quality but also function wise: professional adult tool versus idle amusement for the younger. You chose to capture the size antagonism side of it only. Fair enough.
To improve this composition witch is either a little scanty or bare depending on how you look at it, I would start by off-centering the pole of the large contraption to either side and rethink the composition on these bases. If including more of the hillside in the frame rather than this uniform blue sky was possible, I would go for it.
Having a crisp, slightly more saturated, prominently positioned pinwheel in the foreground and one or several windmills (in or out of focus) in the distance would certainly be a good choice.
A kid and pinwheel running around in a windmill field, wouldn’t that make a great picture? Actually, I may do exactly that once. Thanks for the great idea.
The grass at the bottom is a touch visually distracting, and it would help if the colored wheel was in focus, rather than the big one, however, I know that cameras with autofocus will make it near impossible to get what you want sometimes. This is a great photo, great composition, 7.
You've really nailed the idea for the challenge -- good light too. My only critical comment would be that the pinwheel is too central -- I'd like to see it more to the left -- I want to instantly know that the stick of the pinwheel isn't part of the windmill. As is, it takes a moment to 'read' it as separate objects. Should score well within the top 30!!
Excellent composition, perfect idea for the challenge. I'm curious how this would have turned out if there was a breeze and you slowed down the shutter to capture some motion, especially in the toy windmill.
Think you should have used as small apperture as possible to get both objects into sharp focus. You are probably pretty close to the smaller one so maybe then it wasn´t even possible. Then I would have just used a large apperture and blurr either of them significally, not go somewhere inbetween. But the colors are great and this is a fine image.
Very good idea, nice colours. Unfortunately the little windmill is out of focus. There is plenty of light available, so I would have use a much smaller aperture to better depth of field. The grass is also distracting.
