I live in Waikiki, which means that it rarely rains here this time of year. This morning we had a shower move down from the mountains and as it cleared a double rainbow formed - an invitation if ever there was one. There was no time to go out and find a nice scenic spot to shoot. I grabbed my camera and fired off several images before the higher, faint rainbow disappeared. This is the view from my lanai. Unfortunately, I forgot to check the ISO in my haste. It was still at 1600 from the night before. Duh. I had a LOT of noise to deal with, but managed to get most of it. The image is a bit soft, though. Oh well. Let's see how it does. I can't let a double rainbow go by just because I can't remember to check the ISO. I made a lot of adjustments.
RAW adjustments: Straightened horizon. Increased exposure, blacks, brightness, contrast and clarity. Increased highlights, reduced lights and shadows. Reduced noise. Adjusted saturation and luminence.
CS3 adjustments: Straightened building vertical lines with several transform adjustments. Used lots of layers to bring out colors of the rainbows (the upper rainbow was pretty weak)including curves, saturation, dodge and burn. Ran it through Neat Image and sharpened it several times using channels > stylize > find edges and then selective use of USM on the buildings. Resized and added small black border.
