This was one of about 400 shots... first, it took almost an hour to find the snails... they are Baby snails... if you think it's hard to find a regular size snail, try to find a baby one... then find two of them... They needed to be babies because i wanted to frame them on the leaf with the drops, and the big ones wouldn't fit in the frame... Those little guys move FAST!! i had to start them off at either end of the leaf, then grab my camera and wait until they met in the middle of the leaf...
I used my trusty old Nikon Series E manual focus 50mm f/1.8 with an extension tube... you can buy one of those lenses and an extension tube used on ebay for well under $50... and they are VERY sharp...
Lighting was from my old nikon SB-28 on a sc-29 cord... you can see where the light was held if you look at the catch light on the drips and snail shell...
Note: if you plan on taking a pic of a snail, get it's shell wet... it gives it a nice reflection
I'm not expecting a ribbon or anything with this one... my goal is to make top 5 of my shots... so basically all it has to score is above a 5.5 and it's in... i have my fingers crossed =)

Wooo Hooo!!! a new PB!!!
Thanks for all the comments!
BTW, this pic turned out EXACTLY the way it was supposed to... and for the comment about the snails location on the leafs... they are SUPPOSED to be leaning off the edge of the leafs... helloooo? did you even read the title??? =)

Nice idea. Unfortunately IMO it suffers from "tangent error". It would be much better if the snails didn't come to the edges. This draws the eye away from the center.
