OK, so the horse(s) challenge comes up when I'm stuck at a jumper show with the crappiest backgrounds ever! Not anywhere near home with my trusty photogenic steed. So what to do, what to do! Well, go against the grain and shoot from the ground with my wide angle lens. It will at least not embarrass me although I won't hold a candle to my usualy equine quality or Lynnesite, or Judi, or Jutilda, or, or, .........
Convert in RAW, some hue/sat, dodge n burn, clone out a few distractions in the far background, and enter and hope I can get a nice middle of the road score at least.
Thanks all for the votes and even more so for the many great comments. This was REALLY unexpected.

I like the evocative nature of this photograph. To me it appears as poised to overcome all hurdles and reach the sky even if your goal be that high.
Congrats on the ribbon.
George Morris should order a print of this as a near-perfect rider position, cause I'm sure he'd take issue with her ducking...but that horse is faultless.
Impressive angle. I like the effect of the wide angle and the fact that the shadows are not too harsh even though this is in direct sunlight. Nicely done
Excellent perspective, excellent light, dead-on focus, and a wonderfully cooperative sky to show off both the marvelous form and coloring of the animal and the intensity of the rider. Very well done.
Awesome, awesome, awesome. I'm not quite through yet, but this is a ribbon candidate! Exactly the right moment, great perspective, good lighting and even the clouds are nice!
Great perspective, the only suggestion is maybe you could have cropped in on the right side to remove the upright pole. Very nice as is, on of the better in the challenge.
Wow! Great action shot - given the angle I say you were fairly up close to get this great shot. The lower angle shooting up gives this composition some wonderful visual interest because the horse & rider look much more impressive as they take the leap over the fence. The shot has more of the horse & rider on the sky as their backdrop adding more visual impact to the jump and playing well with the title. If you had taken this at a straight and level it would not have had the same impact. Lighting is fabulous too with a great many elements of the main subject and it's surroundings very well lit. Great capture; 8.
The timing and pose are jsut about perfect here, the only thing for me that could have made it better would be if it was shot in a meadow or pasture, so you didn't have the empty stands in the background - but that's just me.
Lot's of great things about this shot - well done.
