I *think* these are Pearl Crescents, although there is a small chance they are Northern Crescents. I got bleary-eyed trying to figure it out last night ;-) The 2nd one was following the first one all over the place, which was fun to watch so I had to try a few shots of them.
This was taken in the yard at the animal shelter while I was waiting for dogs to be brought out for my photographing pleasure. Thus I had my 28-75 animal portrait lens on, which is not optimal for itty-bitty butterflies who won't let me get very close. So this is like a 400% crop, or something insane like that. I am rather surprised it came out so well! Three cheers for the workhorse lens :-)
Here's the original (resized):
PP - converted from RAW, cropped insanely, 2nd layer (Gaussian blur, dodged butterflies and clover, merged in multiply mode at 30% transparency), USM, added border, resized, sharpened with slight noise reduction.
dreamy and beautiful .. they look almost like they're under water .. love the way those butterflies look almost like flashes of light .. .. a gorgeous image ..:)
