Set up was as simple as it gets. Three pieces of black construction paper. Side window light, and bounced a 430ex off the ceiling. Nothing fancy in the post processing. RAW conversion, BW conversion with adjustment layer, curves, levels with a mask over the pinwheel, cloned some dust and hole in the left orbit that was distracting, resized, small amount of USM, save for web. I have done shadow/highlights, don't remember.
Trying to convey the mysteries of the human nervous system. Items pictured are tools used by Neurologists to examine patients: Pinwheel for sensory exam (actually now use disposable safety pins). Two tuning forks one to test vibration, the smaller one to test hearing. There is a reflex hammer on the left. The skull is a model from my office. No, it's not a past patient of mine!
