The birth of a Cicada. I've always wanted to catch one emerging from it's shell...nice catch!

Quite extraordinary...bumping to a 10

Excellent composition...unique perspective.

I wonder if this would have looked better with a different orientation???

that is a photo not for a faint of heart :). I like it though. I think it could be better turned 90 deg CCW...

Great shot. I think this would work better in portrait. Great clarity. 8

Wow. I have never caught one in the act. I always find the shell. Nicely done. Love the detail.

there is another of these in the challenge, yours is great for focus, etc, but I prefer the angle from which the other image is taken

WOw, i hate bugs so this creeps me out big time, other then that its a cool nature shot

Very nice. Better than my empty shell one from "Anything but Landscape", which didn't do too well. I got some "ick" factor on that one that kept the score down. Hope you don't get the same. Good catch, I like it.

great detail not a "pretty picture" though

ewww, that is one freaky looking bug. good colors and focus.

incredible shot...taken just at the right time...do you think it would be even more effective in vertical orientation?

Kinda gross, but fascinating and totally cool nonetheless. I've seen empty cicada shells everywhere, but I've never seen one emerge firshand.

Wow there's an eye-catcher.
