Sex appeal, family life, childhood, teenage, adult, sport, sleep, play, work, happiness, sadness, shyness, confidence....they are all there....and so are you!
A PB!!!!!!! Wahooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I got it.
Just for the record....I want to do a reshoot and tidy up some areas...like having an old person and a baby in the shot and change the cardboard boxes for more sturdier containers.
This shoot actually involved 15 people. Thankyou to all of your!!
The main idea behind the two men is -
1 - To deceive the viewers as to which way is up...but because of the fairy I think that became irrelevant.
2 - Men seem to be seen as the ones who keep the families together in the way they provide, so having them on the outside, wrapped around signifies this.

At first glance I though of M.C. Escher. The guy who draws those pictures that you don't know if your coming or going or if you up or down. Then in a blink of an eye it reminded me of the old school days with the shelves that had different toys you can take out and play with. I really like this photo because there is so many point of view that come together and make a great photo.
i like the cardboaRd boxes it adds something to the picture that I think sturdier things wouldn't. great picture, i like the idea of adding an elderly person and a baby but you should keep the boxes!
WTG. nice work!
I always get amazed at the few truly creative shots for challenges like this. I thought to myself, oi, what kind of crap are we going to get in this one? Great shot Judi!
Yowza, great score Judi. Absolutely, fantastically, deserved this blue.
Fantastic imagination and execution!!
Love it.
Congrats. PS: I was one of the 39.
Judi, this is such a creative and interesting shot. So many great components! You've done a super job. Love the hints of movement with all the other and it looks very natural. Totally kewl...and GREAT score! Congrats!
Your excellence behind the camera has never surprised me! (For that matter the Blue, doesn't surprise me either...) What does surprise me is that you don't have a flock of Blues flying in formation...way before now!
Awesome job Judi and congrats on the ribbon as well as the PB. I didn't get to vote in the challenge but this just seems original and well executed, I love it, well deserved to be sure!
One of my top rated images in the challenge. Loved how this composition illustrated many facets of life stages or chapters as you put it in the title. When I first saw this in the challenge it made me think of the Brady Bunch opening formation credits. But instead of just a head portrait you give us far more 'personality' of the people within the boxes because of the activity they are doing, the expressions, and dress of each person. Tones, lighting, composition of all elements come together in perfect unison. I too was a little confused as to why the two men adorned the opposite and outsides of the box. My conclusion is that you placed them there in that position to act as a Yin & Yang type symbol (one is dressed in dark colors the other in light).
you said you wanted to redo the shot. Honestly, I think the cardboard boxes make the shot. Switching them out for something sturdier doesnt seem like it would have the same feel. Im sure that you will redo the shot great though. Artistically though, I like the cardboard boxes. Just my opinion.
By the way, I'm new..what does PB stand for?

One thing on the photo--I don't quite get the two guys sprawled on the outside.

I would think they represent those that think/live outside the box or maybe they are just homeless? :P Anyway, great idea Judi and congrats on the PB!!!!

Congratulations Judi! The last non-helpful comment was mine.. :)
The only reason your comment wasn't checked was because it came in at the last minute and I didn't see it as I was running out the door to an appointment! It was not a backlash for your previous comments. I am not like that!
This is definitely one of my favourites of the shot. Such a clever idea :-) There's a nice range of poses and expressions. The fact you've lined up your boxes in a regular pattern means everybody is being seen and everyone gets equal precedence, unlike some group portraits.
My only tiny nitpick (and it is a tiny one) is I'd like to see a few more people looking at the camera (perhaps one of the two people around the outside) I'd also like to see one or more older people in the shot to complete the "ages" theme.
Extraordinary in all respects: creativity, composition, work of the "actors", black and white...even the title.
The slight motion blur of some hands and feets adds still something dynamic.
One of my very rare 10, congrats!
Great concept, excellent execution. Great photo. I don't vote down on titles, but I have to say I'm not a big fan of titles that so literally 'talk to me.' It's jarring and makes it feel like a high school assignment.
