Greetings from the CC, with a chuckle, I just complained in a thread about having to critique ribbon winning shots and my next shot is yours! LOL
Well, this is a beautiful shot, the golden tones, the fortune of the capture, 2 magnificient birds in flight. The thing that makes this shot for me is the emotional feel givn from the bird on the left which seems to be looking over to check how its mate is doing. I hope this helps a little, my complaint was that I find it hard to critique shots that are very well done. good work, keep clicking.
Congratulations on this ribbon. Not to take anything away from the other ribbon winners, but I really thought this would get the blue. After all, it's incredibly hard to get this close to these birds and you can't exactly pose the shot. This could almost have worked for serendipity! I am absolutely shocked and horrified that you had a single 1 or even two 4s! Anyway... congrats on the high ranking. You really deserved it. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

This might win a ribbon. One of my favorites. I might spend the extra time to remove the sticks or leaves that are floating in the water under the highest bird. Also to right there looks like a couple specs of digital noise. Just a great shot. Good luck! 9
Great capture and framing and shallow DOF adds much to this composition. Your choice to highlight yellow coloring helps make this an outstanding image and one of the best of this challenge.
NIce capture and good timing on your part. The image in my honest opinion is greatly over saturated / contrasted but, some people seem to like this "look" in images.
Beautiful shot :) The silhouettes are perfect and it does appear that the two birds are 'communicating' in this image. The timing of this shot is perfect...
I've been stalking our local "heronry" every day for a month hoping to get a shot like this but I've had no luck! This is definitely the best one in this challenge. If you don't win a ribbon I'll fall of my chair. -10
