We went to Mackinac Island for the day. I somewhat resisted a year ago when we were in the area because I thought it would be boring, but it turns out to be anything but that.
The island is a tourist trap, as expected, but there's so much more. We spent much of the day at a fort where they reenact the 1880s. This was taken in a general store outside of the fort, but part of the admission for the fort.
There is only natural light in these buildings and that tends to draw me in. Little did I know that the girls would become intrigued by the old-time decorations and clothing when I suggested we stop. Taylor was fully engaged and really seemed to enjoy herself. She put on the hat offered by the "storekeeper" and gladly posed.
From a photographic standpoint, there is just so much to take pictures of on the island. No cars are allowed on the island, only bicycles, and somehow that adds to the whole effect. There is good people watching, historic roads and buildings, forests, etc. We spent most of the day and barely scratched the surface.
