Berry basic shot. :P Natural light from the window.
RECIPE:
Start with freshly picked strawberries...preferably from the neighbor's cat pee-free garden, hand-picked about 30 minutes before their alarm clock goes off.
Place strawberries in stainless steel colander and rinse with two parts Hydrogen, one part Oxygen. If time is of the essence, just use water (colander shaken, not stirred).
Remove excess moisture from the strawberry's surfaces, invert over a clean towel and gently rock to and fro a few times.
NOTE: Do not rush this step and use microwave or attempt to put strawberries in the dryer.
Do not remove tops from strawberries as these become the "dipping handles".
Place 3 oz. of confectioners sugar in decorative dish.
Check moisture on strawberries by gently grasping the "dipping handle" and slowly dip one berry in the sugar. If the sugar clumps, the strawberries are still too moist.
(Repeat drying method above and test again until sugar can adhere to the strawberry without clumping.
Place remaining strawberries in color coordinated decorative dish and serve!
Dip and coat berries to individual taste.
Towel can also be used to cover the evidence should the neighbors drop by. (This will be contingent upon there still being berries left after the clump test.)

This is too sharp (bet you thought you'd never hear that one...huh?).
The current style of food photography rarely if ever has everything in focus. If the food image is being used to idendentify specific product such as, a spice, an herb, a fish or utensil, etc. only then is sharp focus necessary. Otherwise full dof food images went out with Betty Crocker Cookbooks in the 1970/s/80's. Cheers!
Having said that, this will probably place better than my shot.
Simple & clean in composition of elements. Love the slightly overhead angle for it add visual interest to the shot not to mention shows off more of the strawberries, the shape of the interesting bowls and the texture of the wood placemat. You would not get that from a straight and level shot. Also love the contrast of colors - the deep red and the green of the two unique shaped bowls mimic those colors found on those rich red strawberries. You have some excellent detail here that just showcases the texture of the strawberries. Just a small critique, I really think it would have strengthened the visual impact even more if there was some more evenly distributed lighting across the strawberries in the bowl; for some of the strawberries fall into shadow.
Nice looking although the white object tends to produce an unnatural lighting effect (more light reflecting on the backside of the bowl & strawberries.
