I really like this image myself – I think it’s probably my favourite of all the images I’ve entered here so it’s doubly nice that it did so well.
I tried for hours to get a photo using the glass stick but they all looked terrible, so I gave up and decided to photograph the edge of a flower petal. It turned out fine but my heart wasn’t really in it.
Next day I decided to reshoot my first idea. I placed a tall tumbler on the draining board. Taped the glass cocktail stick to the tumbler (at a downwards angle because the shape of the drop was nicer then). Only problem with this is that the darn drop kept skittering down towards the bottom of the stick before I could grab my camera. Arrgghh.
However, after a bit of practice at placing the drop at the top end of the stick and grabbing my camera, quick! quick! focus and taking the shot before it rolled to the bottom, I got this one and I loved it immediately.
On a sad note: My dear, 75 year old Mum-in-law took a stroke on Friday afternoon. You can imagine the state we were all in. In the meantime, the doctor at the hospital has told us that it was a mild stroke and she will recover completely in time. Thank God for that!

Oh, I wonder who this could be...are you new to dpchallenge? ;) Who could ever catch up to you, and you will win another one in a day or so if my recognition is on track...I vote we change the name of the website to IreneChallenge! Keep them coming, they are superb!

good color "I THINK" I would of liked it with a little more depth of field. what I like most is that its not just a line like I have been seeing but a leading line of wht most of these pics have been missing!!!
