there are only two wasps surviving as they die off as the colder months approach .. the two left wont live much longer or will abandon the nest and go to some sheltered place & hibernate during winter ..
i decided to put a flower on the nest so i could get a more interesting photograph than just on the nest, hoping i wouldnt get stung, because i've read their sting is extremely painful !!..
i picked a few different wattle varieties and gently and slowly placed one of them on the nest.
the wasps loved them .. eating the nectar .. i didnt get stung.
this is the original photograph ..
processing steps ..
opened jpeg in cs3 ..
did lucisart ..
b&w conversion and increased the contrast and upped the brightness .. and erased that effect from the wasp and a bit surrounding him ..
did adjustment layer in levels ..
scaled up and a smart sharpen ..
i took a heap of photographs so i'll be putting a few in our side challenge .. this is not one of the better ones ..
after seeing roseann love's amazingly excellent high key images lately i wanted to do something along those lines with the wasps, which is why i went for the overexposed look ..
