For their summer school I've been contracted as a resident artist to teach art to deaf kids.
There are two age groups - the itty-bitties (3-5) and the slightly older ones (6-8).
All the kids either have cochlear implants or hearing aids and speak, as opposed to signing - it's that kind of school.
These three boys were finished with their project and I was taking photos. Now, after three weeks, they are always busy vying for my attention.
I asked if they had seen The Hulk - and they threw themselves into all sorts of poses, while roaring. The little dude up front - who is just darling, by the way - definitely wanted to be in the picture - so I have several of them where he's trying to stick his head into the lens. What a kick.
The colors of all the shirts and the background were a bit incoherent, so I made it BW.
Oh how very fun indeed! What a great capture of the energy and enthusiasm of young boys! And sounds like a blast, this teaching art bit - have fun with it!
This shot is truly delightful. I especially like how the middle child's open mouth "fills in" for our imaginations what we can't see of the face of the foreground child. Excellent choice of focus.
