i have HighNooner to thank for forwarding this to me.
Congratulations Ahmad! So nice to see your first entry scoring so high and using the brilliant D70, so glad you have it now :) now your average score is higher than mine, will it last?
Glæsilegt hjá þér elskan :)
I wish to thank everyone for voting in my first entry :D I'm really thrilled to start in the top ten and hopefully would remain there ;)
A special thanks to my Model HighNooner, to whom his expressions were highly rated by many people! (probably a bit overrated :P)
As for the Photo it's a classic Acid Base reaction, where by chance i saw a documentary, they claimed that the juice of red Cabbage is infact an Acid/Base indicator , where i n neutral solution its remains dark purple(two cups) and in Acid solution it's Red, while in a Base solution it's Blue. it was very fun to set up , despite the funky cabbage smell lol.
The controvertial hour glass was just an ornament on that shelf and landed in the picture, i think it had a nice symbollic effect adding some character to the picture !
Love this shot- the colors, the look on the scientist's face, especially captured in the eyes and eyebrows. Is the purple substance thickened into a semi-solid gel like not quite set jello?
Nice! I like the colors, focus and contrast. The square crop worked well here. His expression is perfect for the photo. One of my top picks for this challenge. (10)
There's a lot going on in this shot and what I like most about it is that its very balanced. The square crop has been used to full effect here to draw attention in on the main areas of interest, the varied colours work well and the different elements come together nicely. This is one of the better shots from this challenge but a couple of minor faults made me mark it down a little - the blown highlights on his head being the more obvious. The second one, and this is somewhat subjective, is the guys expression. I cant place my finger on exactly what I dont like about it, but I think I'd prefer it without the raised eyebrow. I gave this an 8.
I'm not sure what it is but I'm impressed you have an hour glass! Just a tad oversharpened in spots to me but otherwise perfect. I think you have a photo with serious contention for a ribbon in this challenge.
Great idea, and looks like quite a bit of effort. Well done. I only wish his face was a little more in focus - I see the depth was a little shallow. Anyway, nice shot. 7
great expression! lighting is a bit harsh, crop at sides a bit too close. maybe it's just me, but it seems a bit strange the big glasses are not laboratory glasses
