Excellent contrast really makes this scene interesting. Doen't seem to be too much whites but the framing really helps to make the composition great. This would make for an interesting postcard. "10"
great subject! Good use of negative space. I'd have been sorely tempted to clone out the wires, LOL. Guess there was nothing you could really do to eliminate them.
I think my only serious suggestions would be to increase contrast and sharpen slightly more post-resizing to bring out some of the interesting texture in the coach & field, and also to try for more contrast in the sky; the sky contrast might be enhanced by creative use of channel mixing during grey conversion, or a polarizer might have brought out more contrast in the original shot.
hmmm....
it's a nice shot, and one can tell that u thought of the composition, but somehow it does not work that well... i understand that u left a lot of blank space as perspective for the arrow... but... the carriage is somehow directed the other way... so... there is a paradox which does not work too well... and the title could have been more inventive...
I don'r get bored of old rusty wheels and b&w images, especially when they are of this standard. I guess if it wasn't basic editing you'd have removed the power lines. If the location isn't too far away from you I'd be back when there is a more powerfull sky, I think a dark thunderous sky would add to this. I do like the positioning of the 'stagecoach' and the way it seems to be dipping out of the shot.
Black and white works really well with this image. Composition is really good, With the openess of the image one can instantly feel the abandonment of the carriage. Hope this image does well.
This is a great one. I'm a little bit uncomfortable giving this a high score, because the way i understood the challenge was that the focus ought really be on wheels, not just stuff that happened to have wheels. But ignoring my own interpretation of the spirit of the challenge, I must confess this is one of my favourite pictures. In fact, if you don't mind, I might print a copy and shove it on the wall. The only slight, not criticism but observation, is that I might have been tempted to get rid of the telephone / power cables. I know the constraints of the challenge forbids this, but i think it work be worth doing if you wanted to prepare a portfolio. Aside from this, I think it is technically flawless and a beautiful picture. Even though i don't think it fits the challenge comPLETEly (but it does to an extent) I wouldn't forgive myself if i cast any other score but 10. So 10 it is. Well done. Brilliant, beautiful image. Jobsagoodun.
i really like this. you can really feel the desolationthe composing is really nice - horizon dead center (and visible thru the windows), subject nestled in the corner and power lines complementing the top half of the subject ... well done.
Wires distract from the picture, wish you could've moved the angle of the coach to the right a little bit to be able to frame out the wires and the road.
Nice relic that works well in balck and white. It would be more effective with an aggle that would eliminate the telephone wires. Need a little more breathing room on the left edge.
Nice Composition, I would have lowered the horizon a little, just above the wheels and change the angle to get rid of the power lines. That would have made the print timeless
